To compliment our already existing fellowship program, as well as enhance our surgical research and compliment our educational programs for medical students and residents, we are very excited to announce the completion of our Simulation Laboratory. This is the most advanced Surgical Simulation Laboratory in the USA incorporating both advanced laparoscopic and robotic simulators. Although the $250,000 Laboratory was completed by generous contributions to the Institute, in accordance with Marchand Institute Policies, there were no contributions accepted from medical or surgical device companies, and all contributions were certified by our board to be free of conflicts of interest. While the lab is equipped with extremely advanced virtual-reality technology aimed at the most realistic simulation of surgical procedures possible, it also includes game-like exercises for training surgeons – including a version of the old-fashioned game of “operation,” as played through the Da Vinci (™) Robotic Surgical Simulator. Our lab will be open 24 hours daily for the use of our residents, fellows, and students.
